4 Connecticut Compromise
истПредложение, внесенное делегацией Коннектикута на Конституционном конвенте [ Constitutional Convention] 11 июня 1787. Касалось вопроса представительства штатов в Конгрессе США [ Congress, U.S.] и сочетало в себе элементы Вирджинского плана [ Virginia Plan] и плана Нью-Джерси [ New Jersey Plan]. Принятие предложения привело к современной системе представительства - равному в Сенате [ Senate, U.S.] и пропорциональному в Палате представителей [ House of Representatives]. (р. 1931) Уикер, Лоуэлл (Палмер), мл.Политический деятель. Учился в Йельском университете [ Yale University] и на юридическом факультете Вирджинского университета [ Virginia, University of]. Имел адвокатскую контору в г. Гриниче, шт. Коннектикут; в 1962 был избран в законодательное собрание штата. В 1967-70 член Палаты представителей [ House of Representatives], республиканец; выступал против войны во Вьетнаме [ Vietnam War]. В 1970 избран в Сенат [ Senate, U.S.]. В 1973 стал широко известен как активный член сенатской комиссии, расследовавшей уотергейтский скандал [ Watergate Affair]. Несмотря на оппозицию многих республиканцев, переизбирался в Сенат в 1976 и 1982. В 1990 был избран губернатором штата Коннектикут, став первым независимым губернатором с середины XIX в.
